CIRCULATION-003 / HUMAN FIELD GATE / OCTOBER 24, 2026

The question
is the door.

One real conversation can grow into a possible connection—without becoming a demand, a database entry, or anybody's assignment.

INDEPENDENT COMMUNITY PROTOTYPE. Prepared for possible use around the Greater Mankato Coalition of Care gathering. Not an organizer-issued instrument, affiliation endorsement, official registry, deployed service, or proof that any conversation occurred.

No pitch required. Just a door.

01

Offer a question.

“What's something already happening here that could become easier if people found one another?”

02

Let the person decide.

They can talk, decline, take a card, suggest a connection, or leave. No one has to write anything down.

03

Return only what's permitted.

Only with explicit permission, turn a generalized, non-identifying question into a local draft. No names, contacts, addresses, or stories.

Carry curiosity.

Print at actual size on one 8×10 sheet, cut along the guides, and hand them out freely. No QR or phone required.

Physical printing does not establish permission to collect information. For photo printing, an 8×10 print may crop at the edges: inspect margins before ordering. Matte stock is easier to write on if you plan to use the blank reverse side.

Only the question crosses.

A private conversation stays private. This form contains no field for a person's name, phone, location, or private notes. It creates a candidate file on your device only.

A checked box is an operator's statement, not independent verification of another person's consent or an organization's authorization.

Use general language. Never type names, contacts, exact addresses, private circumstances, or specific requests someone has not authorized.

A return can be a question.

One genuine, consented public question is a successful field test. A person who chooses not to participate is equally respected.

After the gathering: separate what you observed, what a person permitted you to repeat, what you propose, and what a receiving project actually accepted. Do not convert attendance, a card, a conversation, or a graph link into permission.

Field witness checklist — for your own use
  1. Were cards available without sign-in or obligation?
  2. Did participants have an unpressured chance to decline?
  3. Did you receive permission for the exact public-safe wording of any question?
  4. Did you avoid gathering names, phone numbers, addresses and sensitive stories?
  5. Is every resulting file still an UNPUBLISHED CANDIDATE, awaiting a separate source-owner decision?

Record only non-identifying counts if useful. Do not call a story, a need, a relationship, or a receiving organization's consent verified without evidence.
